Aside from being a wife and mama, there are a few other hats I wear. A registered nurse by profession, I moonlight as an avid baker and home cook. My culinary background is in southern cooking, soul food; the kind of meals that welcome you in and invite you to stay a while. I live with my husband and two children in beautiful North Georgia, where we also serve together in ministry, leading the Creative Arts department at our local church. All of these very different roles that I play have one thing in common: loving and serving others in meaningful ways.
One of my favorite things about food is the way that it brings people together and bridges gaps. Food speaks a language all its own. Everything is better shared over a home-cooked meal or sweet treat with friends or family, and I’m passionate about using food to build community and create beautiful moments.
The name Scrunchie’s was born from a nickname we call our daughter, Maggie. From birth, she has always scrunched her nose up in the cutest way, so we coined the nickname “Scrunchie” for her. She is one of a kind, full of spirit and totally sweet, so when it came time to name our business, we didn’t have to look far for the perfect name. Thanks for sharing, Mags!
